A pleasant good morning. This week we continue looking at principles of prayer as outlined in Jesus’ model prayer (Matt. 6:9-13).
Today, we consider that in prayer we make requests for the things we need, as we turn our attention to the first personal petition (the 4th overall): “Give us this day our daily bread”.
I am certain that you have needs in your life. There are “things” that you desire to have — food, clothing, shelter, money and the list can go on and on. You must, however, acknowledge your Heavenly Father as your provider; He is your supplier; God is your source. You can come to God and ask Him to supply the things you need. He makes provision for your daily needs.
Sometimes, when we have needs in life we tend to get so anxious and we panic about them not being met. But we are admonished in God’s Word, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your REQUESTS be made known to God” (Phil. 4:6).
It is important that we ask for what we need. But we must ask in faith, believing that He can and He will do it for us. In Mark 11:24 Jesus tells His disciples. “What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them”.
Prayer works! Put your confidence in the Lord Jesus Christ. God will answer when you Pray!
