THIS DAY IN HISTORY: On November 12, 2000 I said “I do” to a beautiful person and wonderful friend, Renee. That sacred vow remains unbroken to date. It is a life commitment, you see. There are two meanings to that – duration and dedication. Our commitment is for life and it is a commitment of our lives. Like most marriages we would have had our fair share of challenges, but we are delighted to say that by God’s amazing grace, He kept us!
Today, 20 years, 3 children and an amazing ministry later, we continue to grow closer as companions and friends. As time passes, we get a clearer perspective on the true meaning of Love (agape). We learn to value the simpler things and find the great joy that contentment brings. I won’t dear compare this increasing value to fine wine. I think it is more precious than that – and then again, we don’t drink. I think a more apt analogy is the making of a good investment and the resultant capital appreciation over time. Marriage is indeed a sacred trust, the “fixed deposit” is a life-commitment, once it remains unbroken there are high returns. But the said investment must be put to work for the returns to be realised. It would not always be easy, but it would be worth it.
As we celebrate our 20th Anniversary today, I would like to thank God for my precious wife – Renee Jacob, the wife of my youth. I look forward to many more years, together, by the grace of Almighty God. Happy Anniversary my dear - May God continue to Keep Us!
